The Old Library

Built in 1866, and lovingly restored in the 20th century, The Old Library is the perfect venue for any corporate or private event and is located in the thriving creative hub of Digbeth in central Birmingham.

Digbeth has always attracted an unpreceded amount of industriousness and invention, from its roots as one of the original epicentres of the Industrial Revolution, to the current day revolution it is in the grips of now. Thanks to a concentration of young, independent businesses, attracted by the industrial architecture and street art, Digbeth has grown to become a characterful neighbourhood, known for its friendly people, its innovation and creativity.

Our personable team are on hand at The Old Library from enquiry to event to ensure it is successful and memorable.

For larger events requiring additional spaces, the adjoining Reading Room is available either as a breakout space, buffet area or cloakroom to serve your needs. There are also several spaces available within the Old Library and Zellig buildings, from small pods to breakout spaces, and interesting locations for drinks receptions there is a variety of choice.

For weddings, this newly refurbished converted Victorian library radiates romance and can easily accommodate up to 120 guests for a ceremony and sit-down reception. There is further space for a large bar area and dance floor, separated from the main space by three grand archways.

For corporate events, the main space is light and airy, flooded with natural daylight and full of period features including vaulted ceilings and iconic arch windows. The large open space is perfect for team building workshops or training seminars, giving your group space to move around and divide into smaller teams throughout the day. All of the windows have remote-controlled blinds so you can darken the room for your presentations. There are also wall mounted air-conditioning units giving you full control over the environment.

Since 2018, Venues All Areas & The Events Architect have organised our events, each for between 300 and 500 staff. Quite simply, they have all been a phenomenal success. Our Summer Party now runs over three days, involving everything from marquees, refined catering, smart sleeping tents, bands, and a myriad of other activities (even ice cream vans!). Our Christmas Party is traditional black tie, which they somehow also make special and out of the ordinary. They challenge themselves to go above and beyond, and they SUCCEED, whilst keeping within the all-important budget!
