The Assembly Hall

The Assembly Hall is an ideal location for corporate dinners, product launches, talks and other events. The high ceilings, Italian marble panelled walls, Matcham style balcony and glorious architectural features give the Assembly Hall a distinctive feeling of grandeur and elegance.

The option to include the balcony allows for a full capacity of 770 guests theatre style, while removable seating on the stalls level maintains the room’s versatility.

Located alongside the Assembly Hall on the first floor, the Old Servery is well suited to housing an event kitchen, with access to 3-Phase power and running water

The Council Chamber

Once the original Vestry Hall for the Town Hall, the Council Chamber is the most architecturally significant space, featuring an original highly ornate moulded ceiling, floor to ceiling columns and stained glass windows.

Located on the ground floor, the Council Chamber is a flexible space ideal for parties and receptions, conferences, launches and talks and can be hired as a singular room, breakout, or complemented by the Mayor’s Parlour, the adjacent space.

The Large Committee Room

The Large Committee Room is the largest of three interconnecting rooms on the first floor. High ceilings and large windows along its full length give the room plenty of natural daylight and make this one of the lightest and brightest spaces at the Town Hall. With distinctive period features, Edwardian fireplaces and an elegant buttressed ceiling, it is ideal for private parties, networking drinks, receptions, meetings and intimate wedding ceremonies.

The Ditch

The Ditch is the untouched basement of the original Grade II listed building. Over a dozen interconnecting rooms with original features, exposed brickwork and pipes, fireplaces and stoves provide a unique and intimate setting for events.

Despite the abandoned aesthetic, The Ditch has full production capabilities and remains as flexible and responsive as the rest of the building. It can be transformed to create an immersive setting for memorable product launches, creative fundraising events, unique receptions, conference breakout spaces and even dining.

Since 2018, Venues All Areas & The Events Architect have organised our events, each for between 300 and 500 staff. Quite simply, they have all been a phenomenal success. Our Summer Party now runs over three days, involving everything from marquees, refined catering, smart sleeping tents, bands, and a myriad of other activities (even ice cream vans!). Our Christmas Party is traditional black tie, which they somehow also make special and out of the ordinary.
