Royal Pavilion

The Royal Pavilion, steeped in history and heritage, is the jewel in Brighton’s crown. The Pavilion has been hosting the city’s finest events since the 1780’s. Today it stands majestically, restored to its original 1823 splendour with Indian architecture contrasted with lavish interiors inspired by the Orient.

The Royal Pavilion was originally built as a seaside pleasure palace for the Prince Regent, later to become King George IV, when Brighton was at the height of fashionable Regency society. George, renowned for his extravagant and decadent lifestyle almost bankrupted the country in pursuit of this magnificent palace.

King William IV Room

The Banqueting Room

The elaborate and glittering State Banqueting Room, highly theatrical in style, was the perfect backdrop for the celebrated feasts that George would have offered his courtiers and guests. In situ is a grand table, a permanent exhibit, offering a setting truly fit for a grand gathering. This room oozes splendour and extravagance with a dazzling centrepiece chandelier held in the claws of a glorious silvered dragon.

The Music Room

The Music Room is one of our most spectacular and impressive State Rooms. Its extraordinary interior is lit by nine lotus-shaped chandeliers with stunning rich red and gold Chinoiserie walls. The windows are dressed with opulent silks, supported by carved flying dragons. The gilded domed ceiling is made up of hundreds of plaster cockleshells creating an illusion of height, making it hard not to look up as you enter the room.

The Great Kitchen

The Banqueting room is hired out with The Great Kitchen though you can hire the space on its own. Sometimes referred to as the ‘King’s Kitchen’, the Great Kitchen was modern for its time. George, who was obsessed with food and dining, conceived this kitchen and would often escort and impress his VIP guests with this room showcasing his innovative facilities. It was truly one of the first ‘show kitchens’ in the world.

The Red Drawing Room

The elegant historic Red Drawing Room was a place where the King’s distinguished female guests would withdraw to following lavish dinners in the palace’s Banqueting Room. It retains much of its original 1820s striking decorative scheme incorporating the Royal Pavilion’s distinctive dragon wallpaper and palm tree pillars. The room offers a warm and beautiful space for smaller scale events and intimate seated dinners. Not part of the public tour, your guests will get to enjoy a part of the palace not seen by many.

Since 2018, Venues All Areas & The Events Architect have organised our events, each for between 300 and 500 staff. Quite simply, they have all been a phenomenal success. Our Summer Party now runs over three days, involving everything from marquees, refined catering, smart sleeping tents, bands, and a myriad of other activities (even ice cream vans!). Our Christmas Party is traditional black tie, which they somehow also make special and out of the ordinary. They challenge themselves to go above and beyond, and they SUCCEED, whilst keeping within the all-important budget!
