Designed by Sir Christopher Wren, the Grade I heritage site is a spectacular venue for daytime and evening entertaining.

Commissioned by King Charles II and designed by Sir Christopher Wren over 300 years ago, the Hospital makes a beautiful venue for weddings, private, corporate and charity events. We also provide private parking, excellent approved suppliers to suit all budgets and a dedicated Events Team who do their utmost to ensure the success of your special occasion.

In addition, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that profits from venue hire at the Royal Hospital go towards securing a future for the heritage site and help fund care for the Chelsea Pensioners who live here.

Ranelagh Gardens

The Great Hall

The Great Hall, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, is over 300 years old. Boasting an impressive mural of Charles II and original seventeenth century features, the beautiful Great Hall provides a truly unique backdrop for a wide variety of events including receptions, launches, award ceremonies and Dinners.

The State Apartments

The State Apartments are an elegant environment for a drinks reception or private dinner. Consisting of two rooms, the Council Chamber and the Ante Room, the Apartments have hosted Monarchs and other notable figures since the 1700’s.

Wren House

Wren House offers magnificent views across the Royal Hospital’s gardens and out towards the Thames. Recently refurbished, it presents itself as a perfect space for more intimate gatherings and dinners or business meetings. With direct access to the South Grounds and Figure Court, it offers the flexibility of combining both an indoor and outdoor event.

The Chapel

The Chapel in the heart of Wren’s original buildings is ideal for concerts, music recitals, lectures and carol services as well as for wedding ceremonies and christenings. The Chapel, which features an impressive mural of The Resurrection by Sebastiano Ricci dating from 1714, is home to a professional choir whose services can also be engaged for events.

Ranelagh Gardens

Ranelagh Gardens is one of London’s hidden gems. Tucked away in the extensive grounds of the Royal Hospital, these magical gardens provide an ideal outdoor space for a whole host of events, from theatrical productions to summer drinks receptions. Comprising both middle Ranelagh and Lower Ranelagh, both spaces are fantastic for a marquee event.

Since 2018, Venues All Areas & The Events Architect have organised our events, each for between 300 and 500 staff. Quite simply, they have all been a phenomenal success. Our Summer Party now runs over three days, involving everything from marquees, refined catering, smart sleeping tents, bands, and a myriad of other activities (even ice cream vans!). Our Christmas Party is traditional black tie, which they somehow also make special and out of the ordinary.
