The Natural History Museum is one of London’s most unique and iconic venues. Its magnificent architecture and collections create the perfect backdrop for any event. The magnificent Hintze Hall reopened in 2017 with a huge blue whale skeleton at its centre. Grand and luxurious, it’s our largest venue.

As one of London’s most iconic venues, we have a grant of approval to hold civil marriages and civil partnerships in twelve of our galleries. The spaces can be used for ceremonies, reception-only celebrations or both.

The Darwin Centre & Courtyard

Hintze Hall

Hintze Hall, with its grand entrance way, soaring Romanesque arches and magnificent stone staircase, is the most dramatic and iconic space in the whole Museum. The hall’s large capacity makes it a popular space for dinner dances, awards ceremonies, fashion shows and private events.

Guests enter through the spectacular main entrance, where the splendour of the Hintze Hall is revealed. A drinks reception can be held in one of the adjacent galleries – Fossil Way or Dinosaur Way.

Earth Hall

The celestial map adorning the walls of Earth Hall provides a beautiful backdrop to the Museum’s giant metal Earth sculpture. Your guests will be surrounded by remarkable objects that tell the story of our planet and solar system, including moon rock, precious metals and fluorescent minerals. These specimens tell their own stories of Earth’s chaotic past.

The Earth galleries can be added to provide a unique pre-dinner drinks experience or to increase capacity for a reception.

The Darwin Centre & Courtyard

The Darwin Centre offers a contemporary canvas for a multitude of events including drinks receptions and formal dinners. Steel beams and reflective glass, together with the white limestone floor and curved concrete walls, provide a bright and modern event setting. The opportunity to explore the Cocoon is an extra treat to any event.

The courtyard provides a tranquil setting for a party or drinks reception with the additional space of the atrium inside.

Since 2018, Venues All Areas & The Events Architect have organised our events, each for between 300 and 500 staff. Quite simply, they have all been a phenomenal success. Our Summer Party now runs over three days, involving everything from marquees, refined catering, smart sleeping tents, bands, and a myriad of other activities (even ice cream vans!). Our Christmas Party is traditional black tie, which they somehow also make special and out of the ordinary. They challenge themselves to go above and beyond, and they SUCCEED, whilst keeping within the all-important budget!
