Merchant Taylors’ Hall

Dating back to the 14th century, Merchant Taylors’ Hall is an incredible venue located in the heart of the City of London with fabulous spaces to hire for events.

From a medieval banqueting hall to our exquisite courtyard garden, we have a variety of rooms that suit a vast range of events. From Gala dinners, seasonal parties and weddings to product launches and large scale conferences we have the space here.

The magnificent Great Hall is an incredibly versatile space, able to accommodate any kind of event you could imagine! The massive floor space makes it an ideal choice for large events with high ceilings and natural daylight. Our Organ Gallery is accessible for AV crews, theming and photography. Adjoining rooms such as the Cloisters, the Parlour and Courtyard Garden are ideal breakout spaces.

The key linking space at Merchant Taylors’ Hall is the Cloisters. When occupied for an event the whole building is brought to life. With its colonnade and windows enjoying views out to the Courtyard Garden, the Cloisters works well as a reception area, for drinks and canapés or as  an exhibition space.

Forming the heart of the Merchant Taylors’ Hall experience is your very own private stone-flagged, fragrant, sunny garden making it hard to believe that you’ve not suddenly walked out onto the lawn of a gorgeous English stately home. A wonderful space for guests to relax, mingle and enjoy themselves in the sunshine, the garden has the ideal ambiance for barbeques, informal gatherings as well as receptions and corporate events.

Courtyard Garden & Cloisters

Great Hall

This grand room pre-dates the Great Fire of London and has been used for over 700 years of fine dining, balls, and large receptions.

The three metre high stained glass windows flood the Hall with natural light and the lofty ceilings offer grandeur and space. The dais offers a natural focal point for the room, making this a versatile space, as accommodating to conferences and presentations as dinners and celebrations.

Housed on the gallery is a mahogany organ, installed in the Hall in 1966, and the only remaining working organ within a Livery Hall.

Drawing Room

The Drawing Room is an exceptional space popular for weddings, special events and grand receptions. The glory of this room is the hand-painted 18th century Chinese wallpaper shows birds with bright plumage perched on leafy stems and bearing a variety of large and small flowers.

During the day, natural light streams into the room from floor-to-ceiling windows, while two chandeliers and lamps across this room ensure any evening event glows just as bright.

Courtyard Garden & Cloisters

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the City of London, the Courtyard is an oasis of wildlife-friendly flowers and evergreen plants which create a peaceful and classic backdrop to any event.

Used throughout the year, the Courtyard is a focal point for many events, and in the summer evenings, is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy. With recessed lighting, the Courtyard glows into the night, allowing your guests to enjoy intimacy within one of our most popular spaces.

Bridging outdoor tranquillity with the warmth of the main Hall, the Cloisters is an elegant space to enjoy all year round.

Since 2018, Venues All Areas & The Events Architect have organised our events, each for between 300 and 500 staff. Quite simply, they have all been a phenomenal success. Our Summer Party now runs over three days, involving everything from marquees, refined catering, smart sleeping tents, bands, and a myriad of other activities (even ice cream vans!). Our Christmas Party is traditional black tie, which they somehow also make special and out of the ordinary.
