The Victorian Hall

The Victorian Hall is the original grand entrance to the Royal Institution. Filled with natural light from the expansive skylights, and artworks from the collection, guests will enjoy the period features of the imposing Victorian architecture. Utilise our in-house equipment to wash the space with coloured lighting, add a bar, a twinkling dance floor, a string quartet or even a brass band to welcome your guests!

The Atrium

The Atrium connects the old and the new buildings of Manchester Art Gallery, creating a contemporary space filled with light. At night, the Atrium transforms to become a striking event space. It’s the perfect space for drinks receptions and dining. The Atrium is fully equipped with two large ceiling flown plasma screens and integrated PA system ideal for presentations and awards ceremonies or for ensuring those embarrassing childhood photos are seen by all during your wedding breakfast!

Galleries 3 to 10

Galleries 3 to 10 show works from the Manchester Art Gallery collection on a number of themes. From the first painting ever bought for the collection, through to recently acquired contemporary works, these galleries hold a trove of fascinating art and design, making a fabulous surrounding for your special event. Wine and dine your guests in these beautiful spaces and really give them something to talk about.

Daytime Meeting & Event Spaces

There are 4 spaces available to hire during the daytime including the Lecture room which is a modern, purpose-built event space for conferences, lunches, small exhibitions and product launches to Gallery 16 with its Iconic views of Manchester by famed local artists, L.S. Lowry and Adolphe Valette.

Since 2018, Venues All Areas & The Events Architect have organised our events, each for between 300 and 500 staff. Quite simply, they have all been a phenomenal success. Our Summer Party now runs over three days, involving everything from marquees, refined catering, smart sleeping tents, bands, and a myriad of other activities (even ice cream vans!). Our Christmas Party is traditional black tie, which they somehow also make special and out of the ordinary. They challenge themselves to go above and beyond, and they SUCCEED, whilst keeping within the all-important budget!
