Set within 150 acres of Essex countryside, Chelmsford City Racecourse was created to be not only a home for racing enthusiasts but a versatile, contemporary and prestigious venue for corporate and private events all year round. A mere 15 minutes from Stansted Airport and adjacent to the A131, we offer accessibility, whilst providing a welcome alternative to a busy, noisy city-based event space.

Our experience and facilities provide us with the ability to cater for a vast range of events at Chelmsford City Racecourse. Over the years we have hosted trade shows, wedding receptions and charity galas as well as conventions and fairs. Alongside this we are popular with businesses, having worked with a number of companies to provide an ideal location for networking, presentations, conferencing, meeting spaces, team building, and corporate events.

The Club Restaurant & Fairwood Brasserie

The Sports Bar & Lobby

Featuring two large bars, incredible views of the home straight. This perfect all-weather, year-round venue is ideal for conferences, presentations, product launches, exhibitions and much more. The Lobby is ideal as a guest registration, exhibition area or breakout zone. Offering wonderful view of the final straight directly ahead of you with French doors opening out to the terrace.

The Marquees

We have 3 marquees available to hire for private events. The Summer marquee is our largest with a private terrace and spectacular views is perfect for weddings, conferences, trade shows, fairs, large parties and dinners that will wow your guests from start to finish.

The Club Restaurant & Fairwood Brasserie

Both venues are located in the grandstand. The Club Restaurant with grand piano, premium bar and private kitchen offers panoramic views over the entire racecourse. The Fairwood boasts the best views of the winning line from its private terrace.

Since 2018, Venues All Areas & The Events Architect have organised our events, each for between 300 and 500 staff. Quite simply, they have all been a phenomenal success. Our Summer Party now runs over three days, involving everything from marquees, refined catering, smart sleeping tents, bands, and a myriad of other activities (even ice cream vans!). Our Christmas Party is traditional black tie, which they somehow also make special and out of the ordinary. They challenge themselves to go above and beyond, and they SUCCEED, whilst keeping within the all-important budget!
